Nicolás Cabra-Ruiz
I am a pre-doctoral scholar in the Research Program in Development Economics (RPDE) at Princeton University. My research lies at the intersection of political economy, development economics, social and economic history. I use both quantitative and qualitative methods to explore complex issues related to conflict, migration, electoral behavior, and development in Latin America — with a particular focus on forced displacement, political violence, and non-state armed groups.
I hold an M.A. in Economics from Universidad de los Andes (UAndes) in Colombia and a B.A. in Economics from Universidad Nacional de Colombia (UNAL), where I am also completing a second major in History.
Before joining Princeton, I worked as a Research Assistant with the World Bank, the University of Minnesota, Stanford University, UAndes, Universidad Javeriana, UNAL and the Colombian Academy of Economic Sciences. I also served as a consultant for USAID’s Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Activity (MELA) in Colombia.
Outside of academia, I enjoy film photography, hiking, theater, and cinema.
